A Unique & Special Gift – Artistic Nude Photographs Deliver the Most Personal Christmas Holiday Present – by Kenneth Wajda, Professional Artistic Nude Photography of Colorado

WESTCLIFFE, CO (PRWEB) November 9, 2004

There’s a present that’s once again heating up many Christmas holiday gift lists this year and it’s about as personal a gift as you can give. The gift is your body, photographed artistically nude.

And many clients are finding that this is one gift that gives something back–the subject of the photograph is often the one who benefits the most from the experience.

“I’ve photographed women from age 20-50 and they leave the session feeling empowered at having done the shoot, glad they finally took the step to do it, and many comment and say it wasn’t weird at all (after the first few minutes),” says photographer Kenneth Wajda, who has a studio in Westcliffe, CO. “Many also say they’d thought about doing this forever, but didn’t know where to begin. And now are glad they have”

“The time is now to celebrate your body as the work of art it is,” Wajda said.

Artistic nude photographs can be designed and created as a gift for the love of your life or for yourself. Photographs are created with an artistic approach and are not glamour, pin-up or boudoir images.

“I am not interested in explicit, erotic, fetish or pornographic images. I work with the model to create fine-art figure studies using light and shadow. Or wonderful images that reveal personality, like a gardener posed in a field of sunflowers,” said Wajda.

“My goal is to make photos that are highly creative and even fun. Remember the rose petals that covered Mena Suvari in the bathtub in the movie “American Beauty”? I had one model who wanted to be photographed with angel wings. If we can think of it (within reason), we can create it,” said Wajda.

“I understand a client’s nervousness about commissioning an artistic nude photograph. It’s a very personal image and you want to make sure you’re not getting yourself into an uncomfortable situation. As a photographer who specializes in artistic nudes, I make sure that at all times you feel the session is professional and respectful,” said Wajda. “All directions are given verbally. Never do I touch the model.”

Wajda has photographed women from various walks of life, many different ages and sizes– not fashion models–who said their reason for commissioning a nude photo was to “celebrate my body, capture it as it is right now.” Naturally, many people are hesitant at first about displaying their body but the photographs capture the beauty that is already there. “They are always excited to see the results and are amazed when they see the images that their body is so beautiful,” Wajda said.

Subjects have traveled from as far as Chicago to be photographed by Wajda, which are often given as a wedding or anniversary gifts to their romantic partner. The quality of his work is fine art, not the glamour/boudoir style that was popular some years back.

Wajda began shooting nude portraits about four years ago after he moved to southern Colorado. Prior to that he was an award-winning photojournalist for 13 years in New Jersey, covering hard news, pro sports, fashion and features. “Of these, I used to love to shoot the fashion and feature photos (which include his award-winning photos) because they involved lighting and creating the image from start to finish,” Wajda said.

He first offered nude photography to engaged couples as a special and unique holiday or wedding gift, but since then the popularity of these photos have risen to include women of all ages.

“When I’m working with a model, I explain to them that really, I’m seeing their body like I would any other piece of art, any other three-dimensional object. And that their body is beautiful and an honor to work with,” said Wajda. “I am working on poses with light and am creating an image through the recording of that light reflected off their body. Every body is beautiful and my photography just captures its beauty through the use of light and shadow.”

Before the session, he talks to the subject about the shoot to explain the many choices available to them. The session can take place inside or outside (if the weather cooperates and a suitable location is available). It can be in real locations (houses, barns, etc) or his studio (which is a series of backgrounds). Or he can bring a portable studio to their location.

They subject often says they hadn’t thought about these things and it gets them thinking about what would be appropriate for them. A gardener posed nude in a field of wildflowers is a very different kind of person from a person who shoots in a bright, airy bedroom or Victorian mansion. The subject who chooses to be photographed abstractly against a black background in a studio setting is a different type of personality than a marine biologist who wants to be photographed nude underwater or a horse trainer who’s really riding bare- back.

“I think this talking about real, logistical elements about the portrait really helps the client to feel like they have a say in the kind of photo that will be made (they’re commissioning it) and lets them know that I, as the photographer, am a professional who will work with their vision, and bring the technical and artistic qualities needed to it, and not someone with a camera after self-gratification,” Wajda said.

Wajda is extremely professional about his work; there is never anything sexual about the session. Out of respect for his model, he will never touch his subject–all directions to the model are made verbally.

He is also the founder of the Professional Association of Artistic Nude Photographers, (PAANP) which holds its members to a very strict code of ethics. Not surprisingly, this code was written with the model’s rights, not the photographer’s rights, in mind.

By the time of the session, having talked about so many choices and observed so many different styles, the client often comes to him knowing approximately what she wants– abstract close-ups on black without a face; high-key full-figure poses on white; partial nudes; etc.

One recent subject said, “Kenneth Wajda is a true professional with a great eye for light and artistic expression. I felt very comfortable and had fun doing this.”

And another offers a before and after reaction:

On the photo shoot: “I really enjoyed the shoot and seeing the work you do. I am extremely excited to see them. I couldn’t believe how fast the time went.”

On seeing the photos: “Those are SOOO awesome. I am so impressed! I love them. You are very talented. I sent them to (my husband)–he was overseas at the time–he probably won’t believe that it’s me. Will also send to parents. I love them. You work fast.”

It’s a gift of self, a celebration of your body and the depiction of the “creator’s finest masterpiece”.

The Great LIFE Photographers

Santa Fe, NM (PRWEB) November 22, 2004

Monroe Gallery of Photography, 112 Don Gaspar, is pleased to announce “THE GREAT LIFE PHOTOGRAPHERS”, a major exhibition celebrating the rebirth of LIFE magazine and the publication of a new book of the same title. The exhibition examines the history of the magazine through its coverage of politics and war, the fascination with celebrities, its exploration of various strata of American society, and its coverage of key social movements of the twentieth century, particularly civil rights. The exhibition opens with a public reception on November 26, and will continue through January 30, 2005.

In the original prospectus for LIFE magazine, founder Henry Luce’s wrote: “To see life; to see the world….To be amazed!” From the tumult of battle to the glamour of movie stars, from the wonders of nature to the coronation of kings, queens, and presidents, the work of LIFE magazine photographers is as much a history of American photojournalism as it is a history of the changing face of the latter part of the twentieth century. Photojournalism was introduced to America with the advent of LIFE magazine in 1936, and through the end of the twentieth century these photographers traveled the globe to chronicle in pictures every aspect of the human condition. On the pages of LIFE, through the images captured by these masters, the eyes of a nation were opened as never before to a changing world.

LIFE, the most recognizable icon in magazine history, is being relaunched as a supplement in newspapers on Fridays as a gateway to the American weekend. Over 10 million copies of LIFE magazine are to be initially circulated every week, beginning October 1, 2004. “The Great LIFE Photographers” is a volume of living history – the history of our times; 600 photographs presenting the most comprehensive representation of LIFE photographers ever produced. This landmark new book is available at the gallery and fine bookstores.

It is unlikely that anyone could have lived during the last 75 years without having been exposed to the images of these great LIFE photographers. The exhibition of more than 50 photographs features numerous classic images and several little-known gems that are sure to surprise and intrigue by many of these masters, including: Harry Benson, Margaret Bourke-White, Cornell Capa, Robert Capa, Loomis Dean, John Dominis, Bill Eppridge, Alfred Eisenstaedt, Andreas Feininger, Martha Holmes, Nina Leen, John Loengard, Neil Leifer, Leonard McCombe, Joe McNally, Carl Mydans, Gordon Parks, Bill Ray, Mark Shaw, George Silk, Peter Stackpole, and many others.

The significance and impact of these photographers can not be underestimated. Their work and lives pioneered, and came to define, the medium of photojournalism, and their photographs recorded history and informed us all for most of the 20th Century. “The Great LIFE Photographers” exhibition is made even more poignant by the recent passing of Carl Mydans (at age 97 in August) and George Silk (at age 87, just last month).

Monroe Gallery of Photography was founded by Sidney S. Monroe and Michelle A. Monroe. Building on more than four decades of collective experience, the gallery specializes in classic black & white photography with an emphasis on humanist and photojournalist imagery. The Monroes have personally known and represented many of the LIFE photographers, in some cases for 20 years, and are acknowledged as foremost experts on LIFE photojournalists.

Gallery hours are 10 to 6 Monday through Saturday, 10 to 5 Sunday. (Closed Christmas and New Year’s Day.) Admission is free. For further information, please call: 505.992.0800; E-mail: info@monroegallery.com. Media kit with images available upon request, interviews with select LIFE photographers may be arranged.

Jeffery Scott of Factory 1019 Opens His Doors to Commissioned Pieces for the First Time

(PRWEB) February 10, 2005

Jeffery Scott (1019) is the visionary who creates the vividly detailed art that we see in our brightest dreams and most horrible nightmares. His visions of excess and glamour have redefined photography and his followers are scattered across the globe, having to travel great lengths to view his packed gallery premieres. His imagery has been printed in a variety of internationally distibuted magazines such as Marquis, Fotocomputer, YRB Magazine, Gorgeous, Dark Matter, DP World, Secret Magazine and in the new issue of Secret magazine, in a first EVER, all color , Artist’s Portfolio as well.

Mr. Scott is now opening up the opportunity for mere mortals to be turned into works of cybernetic work or otherworldly gods.

Mr. Scott is now setting his sites on marketing his creative photography and visionary skills. His images of gods, monsters, demons, angels, saints, transhuman beings and bio-mechanical sex symbols can be seen on many websites. Samples of his ever increasing collection can be evaluated on his site at http://www.factory1019.com . People absolutely are moved by his work. “I think of the work as being a form of prognosticative, social comentaries. They are based on the world as I see it all around me. It’s as if I am merely a journalist…..reporting on the life that goes on around me. Every piece has it’s own characters. It’s own story. As if it were a single framed motion picture. In my mind……….I am composing these images as if they were symphonies. The composited multi layers of the images are not unlike that of life. They build on each other, like that of a continuing series of events that construct the days in our lives”.

Whether it is cd covers, book covers, posters, modeling portfolios, advertisements, brochures, concept images for motion pictures and television, as well as the direction and production of music videos and television commercials, Jeffery Scott (1019) is opening up his uncanny creative photo imagery ability to the commercial world. He will be available to hire for contract work in any field where creative photography and art is involved. “I would love to work with such celebrities as David Bowie, Christopher Walken, Gary Oldman, Christina Ricci, Cate Blancett, Natascha McElhone….these individuals have a look and characteristics all their own, and it reflects in their work. I would love to shoot them. Manipulate them into the way I see the world. Make them a part of it, and have them speak for me as only they can. CD covers, DVD covers, digital retouching-these are the things in the commercial world that intrigue me. I want MUCH more involvement in these areas. Ad work in the fashion and product industries is also another commercial vien I want to involve my work in, I think the stale qualities of the tried and proven formaulas of the 80′s are antiquated and boring. We need to move on and evolve in the areas, I believe. The more my work grows, the more value I see in making the images move and talk. Having a life of their own outside of a frozen frame………..this brings to mind images that can only be reproduced in live action……Perfectly suited for music videos, motion pictures, and television commercials .”

Mr. Scott is looking for challenges to advance his creativity with magazines, models and art collectors. A new redesign of his website is soon forthcoming.

If you are interested in contracting Mr. Scott, please send all inquires to numatrix.artist@verizon.net . His time is expected to fill up quickly with many requests.

Calderwood Gallery Debuts: Hollywood Chic! Original Fashion Photographs from the Golden Age

Philadelphia, PA (PRWEB) March 26, 2005

Calderwood Gallery will open to the public “Hollywood Chic! Fashion Photographs from the Golden Age,” April 12th through May 27th, 2005. This exhibition and sale of more than 130 original photographs of Hollywood film stars from the 30’s and 40’s showcases fantastic original fashions by illustrious designers including Adrian, Travis Banton, Orry-Kelly, Edward Stevenson and Edith Head. Hollywood Chic! is the second in what promises to be an annual series presented by Calderwood – the inaugural exhibition was their very successful “Glamour! Photographs from Hollywood’s Golden Age” held in the spring of 2004.

Evoking sophistication, style and opulence, the “Hollywood Chic!” photographs reflect an era of couture that epitomized glamour and continues to influence and captivate designers around the world. Selected from Calderwood Gallery’s extensive collection of rare photographs, each museum quality, original image is a work of art. Included are images of Jean Harlow, Joan Crawford, Marlene Dietrich, Katharine Hepburn, Carole Lombard, Lana Turner, Rita Hayworth and others. Taken at a time when photography and film were being widely recognized as art forms, the “Hollywood Chic!” images capture the true grandeur of both the star and the fashion.

Throughout the 1930’s and 1940’s, the Hollywood films were the most influential medium for fashion and design throughout the United States. During this booming age of star power and fashion awareness, the public, especially women, were enamored with the fashions of their favorite celebrities. Even during the pre-war days of the Great Depression, movie box-office-sales were at an all time high, as people used the cinema as an escape from reality. Hollywood films provided an escapist outlet for people to live vicariously through the gorgeous stars and their elegant attire.

Banking on this fervent market, the Hollywood studios commissioned these photographs as a means of promoting both the stars and their films, and regularly submitted “exclusives” to publications such as PhotoPlay, Silver Screen, Modern Screen and Screen Guide.

The Hollywood Chic! original studio photographs are the perfect complement to Calderwood Gallery’s remarkable collection of fine French decorative arts. Housing the world’s largest collection of Art Deco, Modernist and French Forties furniture and decorative arts from 1900 to 1950, Calderwood Gallery features important pieces from designers such as Ruhlmann, Dominique, Leleu, Dufet, Arbus, Adnet, Follot, Dufrene and Jallot.

The photographs will range in price from $ 400 – $ 4,000 and will be on display throughout Calderwood Gallery, located at 1622 Spruce Street and open Tuesday – Friday, 11:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m., and Saturday, Noon – 5:30 p.m.

Photographers will not need zoom lenses as these hulks of fine human specimens of physical wonderment flex their biceps and triceps upon our stage. It will be a point and shoot extravaganza as all our fashion, fitness and even child models walk our stage and compete for the Grand Prize of $ 250.00 and other valuable prizes. So we are here to pump you up baby?

By showing off, models will help generate funds of which a portion collected will be donated to the American Cancer Society. Our goal, with your help, is to reach the $ 5,000.00 mark. As cancer has touched everyone’s life in one-way or another, the founder of the Midwest Models Expo, James Bryant lost his stepson, Beau, at the age of 24 to cancer in 2002. “We understand the devastation that cancer causes and are happy to do our part to support such a important cause,” states James. He also mentioned that this is the chance for Midwest models to come out and gain exposure, work on their profiles, learn from their peers and most of all have fun! “They get to come help a worthy cause and help people sample a new career. Not to mention this also allows them to meet local companies who deliver services to the modeling and photography industry,” adds Bryant “which helps improve the local economy.”

We are looking to find the “Next Midwest Top Model.” Could it be you? Folks from All 13 Midwest States are encouraged to attend.

Some of the models that have been in attendance of the past models expos and conferences have gone on the bigger things. We had one model that attended our show that ended up in Playboy as one of the ”Girl Next Door” models. Others have appears in national magazines such as TEEZE Fashion and Supermodels Unlimited magazines.

Just one of the many letters of thanks they have received from previous shows reads as follows:

”James, Thank you for ALL of your HARD WORK! The modeling expo, to me was a huge success! I met lots of new contacts for my business. I look forward to any other events that you may do and will support them in any way that I can. On a personal note, it was great to finally meet you in person, thank you again for your hard work and the efforts and support from your family as well. – Oliver Cole FANTASY ON FILM http://www.xsellpage.com/FOF 313-320-0627”

“We know you have you seen the ‘Who wants to be the next top model ‘ TV show, we say watch out world cause here comes the 2005 Midwest Models Fest”, comments Cheri Crawford, the executive producer and sales force behind the expo. “These type of shows are a hot ticket for local models to work on etiquette, social skills and develop confidence before moving on to a larger venue such as New York or California.”

‘A hot ticket?’ You bet! They are offering one luck model the chance to win $ 250.00 Cash Grand Prize, plus other models have a chance to win a myriad of other prizes that are donated by reputable businesses from the Midwest area. “We have had in the past” starts Bryant,“ either a fashion show or expo, but this year we will be offering three big tickets, all at one time. Fashions show; exhibit area and a photography contest.“

Come do your part to help find a cure for cancer and help support someone’s dreams of becoming the Midwest’s Next Top Model

Among the list of companies that have helped sponsor the expo in the past include; TEEZE Magazine, the magazine of glamour fashions and models and Supermodels Unlimited, fashion and competition magazine. Also the aid of such on-line services such as One Model Place and MuseCube, the biggest models data warehouses on line today.

Already some companies have come forth to volunteer their services such as American Speedy Printing of Howell Michigan who is donating a generous assortment of brochures, entrance forms and other various items to this worthy cause.

As we all know, time passes quickly and booth space and model registration is limited. So don’t delay, visit http://www.midwestmodelsexpo.com/ or call James Bryant at his office between the hours of 10 AM to 1 PM Monday thru Friday.

The 2005 Midwest Models Expo and previous shows running since 1999 have been produced with care to provide a safe place for models to grow and to help others to help themselves by teaching, studying and practicing the art of self promotion.
